Description
Éléonore Wolff has a PhD in geographical sciences since 1995.
She is a lecturer in geography at the Université Libre de Bruxelles since 1995. Her courses cover fields such as cartography, remote sensing, geographic information systems, but also the geography of Sub-Saharan Africa, ...
She leads the Geospatial Analysis research group (ANAGEO) specialized in remote sensing.
She is also involved in several university development cooperation projects in Africa.

Research
The research focuses on the extraction of information from high and very high resolution satellite images, mainly in the field of land cover and land use mapping and its evolution.

Field of activity
Geographic database and GIS: Constitution and enrichment of geographic databases (thematic and topographic) from statistical sources, aerial photographs and satellite remote sensing data. Improvement of updating, homogenization, and interpretation techniques of such databases.
Geography of Subsaharan Africa: Studies for a comparative analysis of the forms of organization of space (rural, urban, regional, or national) and their recent mutations. Within this framework, implementation of a wide range of data (field surveys, spatial statistics, aerial photos, satellite images) and spatial analysis tools (GIS, thematic maps, multivariate analysis).
 

Teaching

Eléonore Wolff contribute to regular courses to Bachelor and Master students in Geography that are taught in French and often accessible to other master students.
